July 3rd was a great day of skiing at Alpine.

The weather was perfect – 70 degrees. The nicest weather I have ever skied in.

The snow was cold, and in excellent condition. Lots of people were out there to enjoy it.

I couldn’t have asked for a more fun time. Skiing really is a family sport!! What a way to end the season and celebrate the 4th of July weekend.

Back from Vancouver – Thanks Alpine!

I’m back in town from the Winter Olympics. Wow, what an experience! I placed ninth fastest in the world. I didn’t come home with a medal, but looking back at it, I achieved so much. There’s so much to keep your head high about, and there are so many people that helped me get there. With Alpine Meadows building the course and having the start features really, really helped me on race day. I couldn’t have done it without the help of my Alpine friends.

In Anticipation of Errol’s Big Day…

Errol Kerr is on his way to the Olympics, and we couldn’t let him go without throwing him a proper send off party. We filled up the Last Chair with friends and family and celebrated the fact he is going to compete against the world’s top racers! To raise money for his trip, Errol auctioned off some stellar items including his signature helmet, and a trip to Jamaica. To top it all off, we raffled off some awesome prizes, including a pair of Fischer skis. The folks who took home those items sure are grinning big.

Errol, we know you can do it. Your heart and soul are in it – so don’t let anyone else get between you and the finish line. Have fun at the opening ceremonies in Vancouver, and make us proud on race day, February 21st.

Alpine Meadows/Jamaica Ski Team send-off Party

On February 6th, Alpine Meadows had our Jamaica Ski Team Olympic send-off Party. It was exciting and fun to see so many people there and behind us and excited about what we are about to go partake in. So it was a great day. I had an opportunity to forerun the Giant Slalom Junior Olympic Qualifier for the J3’s which is really fun because I came up through that whole program. It’s really fun to come back and see all the little kids so excited about skiing. We had a great party, a great fundraiser, and a great band playing. “HATS OFF” to Alpine Meadows.

Snow in Glenshire — Ski Cross starts

Hey Alpiners,

While it was snowing at Alpine Meadows last week, we were making snow in Glenshire. We put up the start gate, built a great ramp, and practiced starts. Some modifications were done to the gate mechanism, and it’s running better. Pray for snow. I can’t wait for it to snow at Alpine.

I am back at it again. The warm temperatures defeated my first attempt, but we almost have enough snow to do starts. Probably by the end of the week, I am going to be practicing starts in my front yard.

Errol Kerr of the Jamaica Ski Team spent the day hanging with the kids from the Alpine Meadows Ski Team.

“They have the drive the heart and the desire that you need to be a successful ski racer or just have fun skiing the rest of your life… reminds me of me when I was that age… that passion you can see it in their eyes when they get out there skiing, their not going to let one of the other guys be better than them…” said Errol Kerr, Jamaica Ski Team
