Over the last few weeks, we’ve been getting everything ready for Opening Day. The excitement and anticipation has been high, and now the big day is upon us!

Since November 21, our snowmaking team has been working around the clock to help out where Mother Nature hasn’t been so kind. What you’ll ski/ride on tomorrow is the result of 13.2 million gallons of water being transformed into snow. A huge thanks goes out to Rasta and the rest of the crew for making it happen.Fun Boxes for Opening Day

As far as lifts go, we’ll be opening with Meadow and Roundhouse lifts. Roundhouse was getting warmed up today and it looked in great shape, if I do say so myself.

Also, a huge thanks goes out to Snow Park Technologies and Jonahs for working hard on getting some features ready for everyone. They just let us know that we’ll have 3 rails, 6 jibs, 1 signature ball jib and 1 small jump ready for you tomorrow.

It’s going to be a beautiful sunny day, can’t wait to everyone out there!

The winning trick came from snowboarder Brandon Reis for his double cork 10.

Team Gray, scored the best high-five for their three-man, one on a barrel, two front-flipping-by-while-high-fiving display, taking best team. Team members Peter Kukesh, Sean Collin, Andy McDowell, Davis Souza and Austin Simonpietre gave $500 of their loot to the Shane McConkey Foundation and $500 to the Alpine Meadows Ski Foundation.

Grete Eliassen was the best female around and Parker White the best male.  Grete gave her $500 to the NeuroRecovery Network, Parker White to Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports, and Reis to Ski Duck.

Some of you may think, James Bond when you hear parkour; and if you don’t know what we are talking about, make sure to check out MTV’s Ultimate Parkour Challenge. These young athletes, Pip Anderson, Ben Jenkin and King David Gardner are amazing!

What about the Shreadows Terrain Park you ask? Well, we have filming there too! Standard Films, who has provided films such as: Totally Board, White Balance,  and their 2009/2010 movie, Black Winter, is exploring the many terrain feature options only found in the Shreadows Terrain Park at Alpine Meadows for their next film. Only with Standard Films would a crew of top notch athletes follow: Kazuhiro Kokobu, Torstein Horgmo, and Winter X Games big air winner, Halldor Helgason.  Make sure to keep an eye out for Standard Films 2010/2011 movie premier.

The Jump was impressive. And the new venue at the bottom of dancefloor made for great spectating from the Bandwagon and while riding Roundhouse and Summit lifts. Thanks to Snowbomb and the Alpine Meadows Terrain Park crew for another awesome big air competition!
