Errol Kerr of the Jamaica Ski Team spent the day hanging with the kids from the Alpine Meadows Ski Team.

“They have the drive the heart and the desire that you need to be a successful ski racer or just have fun skiing the rest of your life… reminds me of me when I was that age… that passion you can see it in their eyes when they get out there skiing, their not going to let one of the other guys be better than them…” said Errol Kerr, Jamaica Ski Team

So yeah, this is a spring ski video and we just got 10 inches of fresh snow thanks to a nice winter storm. The important thing is that any weather is beer weather and it’ll be sunny and nice out again soon!

Spring skiing at alpine meadows can’t be beat. We’ve got all the faces, aspects and angles covered. Follow the sun as the groomers warm up and you’ll end up at the Ice Bar for a tall frosty lunchtime beverage.

So first, come up and help us mash down this fresh show we’ve been getting, THEN we can move on to skiing in shorts and chilling at the Chalet, Ice Bar and the Sun Deck as the season winds down, the days get longer and the skiing stays awesome!

Don’t think you have to wait. Avant (before) Ski and Pendant (during) Ski work just as well at the new restaurant in the lodge at Alpine Meadows…

We stepped up the cuisine this year with The Last Chair, our gourmet bistro at the back of the lodge. Our Executive Chef Chris Patrick has designed a stellar menu with a prosciutto panini plate, Sausage platter, hummus and pita chips with kalamata olives and salad, and a cheese platter with fontina, goat and bleu cheeses served with crackers and fruit.

Of course all that good grub is backed up with a killer wine list from Ravenswood Vinyards and all the best beers on tap and in bottles. And as always, the Alpine Bloody Mary is almost as satisfying as ripping down Our Father!

Judging from the traffic through The Last Chair over this season, the Bloody Mary is nourishment enough for most of you. But we’d stoked to have you stick around after those other chairs stop running and hop on the last chair and have dinner with us!

Well now we can admit it. There was a dry spell. But it’s OVERRRRRR!!!!!!

There’s so much snow that when we talk about coverage we’re talking about how much of the SKY is blocked out by all the snow! Amazing! We’ve got a total of 144 inches on the upper mountain and if you can believe it, MORE on the way!

Unbelievable! At first we were seeing smiles on the mountain, but now it’s more like exhausted, euphoric delirium! Rest up friends! Bring a power bar, eat your Wheaties cause there’s more freshie to shred!

What better way to celebrate the recent successes of Errol Kerr, The Jamaican Ski Team, than with a PARTY! Thanks to everyone for making the event a blast. The music was pumpin’, you were dancin’, and the raffle prizes kept on comin’.

Our next exclusive Alpine Club Party is this Saturday (Valentine’s Day!) at the Last Chair. Not only will you be celebrating a phenomenal powder day (it is expected to keep snowing through Saturday), but all the chicks who rip, “Alpine Divas,” will be there. With your Alpine Club membership, you can enjoy specials on Ghirardelli Chocolate Martini’s and Cinnamon Martini’s, and $3 Chocolate Trio-chocolate dipped fruit. Yum!

At Alpine Meadows we have awesome powder and awesome grooming. While the Jet stream is in control of the powder, Grooming Manager Dave Cassaro is in charge of the grooming. Starting just after the lifts close down and the sun sets on Tahoe, Dave’s team hits the mountain in state of the art Snow Cats to lay down the best corduroy in the area.

Ever wonder why the diehards are still jockying for the first ride up the Summit 6 even on non-powder days? Try carving Super-G turns on laps down Wolverine and Nick’s laying down sweet patterns in the corn rows. Tip, use a face mask or that smile will get frozen to your face…

Video Tricks

We confess: To tell the story of what the Alpine Grooming team gets done after sunrise we had to use some sneaky video tricks. We worked long and hard on it and we think it makes a night and day difference.

We tried to be subtle about it, walk backwards through our tracks, stay in the shadows, but we think you might catch us anyway. It was another beautiful weekend @ Alpine Meadows! The sun is shining and the skiing is great! But all that could come to an end as more winter storms are on the way to Tahoe this week…

At Alpine Meadows, we love our season pass holders! On opening day this season we held our first season pass holder party @ the new Last Chair Bar in the main lodge. Izabella played, we rocked out with drinks, good friends and a toast from Alpine’s General Manager Jim Kercher, and had a good time getting stoked for the season ahead.

The last chair is a new take on an old space. We re-modeled the old Keely’sbar and put in some new seating and decorations, for what should be a new hang out with a different atmosphere. The bar has a great beer and wine list with lunch and apres ski menu.

Some people we met at the party have had an alpine pass for 35 years or more! That’s a lot of skiing! We hope they all get 35 more years. Thanks for skiing and riding at alpine. We can’t wait to hit the slopes with you!
