What’s new at Alpine Meadows for the 2010-11 ski season

0 Comments 12 October 2010

Alpine Meadows is gearing up for another great ski and snowboard season at Lake Tahoe! Check out just a few of the new amenities, and watch a quick video of the work being done to get ready for the 2010-11 season.

Redesigned Children’s Center: Alpine will unveil a newly designed children’s center, which includes a modern, indoor open space for children and parents, complete with automated registration kiosks and interactive educational stations for kids; and an outdoor snow play area with a new magic carpet surface lift which accesses an improved ‘mini terrain park’ as well as newly installed snow tubing lanes for both kids and kids at heart.

1st U.S. Resort to offer New Chair Lift Safety System: Alpine will be the first U.S. ski resort to offer the latest technology in chair lift safety systems for children, installing Magnestick on Subway and Meadow chair lifts.  Chair lift seat backs are equipped with a magnet which in turn holds a child who is wearing a Magnestick vest in a secure position for the duration of the lift ride.  When a child reaches the chair lift deboarding platform, the Magnestick vest is deactivated, allowing for a seamless release from the seat back.

State-of-the-Art Grooming Machines: Alpine has purchased two newly introduced state-of-the-art grooming machines, which are equipped with the latest technology, speed, and engineering to date within the realm of snow grooming.  The Beast, manufactured by Prinoth, grooms 40% more terrain per hour than a traditional grooming machine, offering the highest-quality groomed snow surfaces for skiers and riders.

Upgraded Lodge: Alpine has redesigned its outdoor seating area at the base lodge.  The 7,500 square foot sundeck, which offers outdoor slopeside seating, will now feature an inviting space for relaxation around a new fire-pit.

New Fast Trax Automatic Ticket Purchasing: Technological advances continue to be a priority at Alpine.  Fast Trax is the latest convenience offered through Alpine Club, the resort’s frequent skier benefit program.  Members simply associate a credit card to his or her radio frequency identification media card, ski through a chair lift gate, and a lift ticket for the day is automatically purchased with a savings of $10 off the window rate, even during holidays.

Commemorative 50th Anniversary “Nifty 50” ticket five-packs offered exclusively to Alpine Club members: In addition to daily ticket savings and the new Fast Trax program, Alpine Club members will offer an unprecedented savings program in honor of the resort’s 50th anniversary: Nifty 50 5-Packs include five adult lift tickets which are valid any day of the season – including holiday. The 5-Packs offer up to a 35% savings – the best available rate for lift tickets. Each Nifty 50 5-Pack is $250 and is non-transferable.
