So a bunch of my buddies from the Sac State Ski and Snowboard Club and me used to get our passes at Alpine back in college. They were $199 unrestricted, which was far and away the best deal around at the time.
We get on Scott Chair early, maybe the second or third run. From the top of Scott you can see the Lake. One morning the lake was completed shrouded in clouds…one of the most amazing views of tahoe I’ve ever had.
We traversed far over past Promised Land, and found the most amazing looking tree. We heard later it was called the mystic tree. It seriously looks like something out of the Hobbit. So we post up there for a while and admire this tree, which looked like three of four different species all growing intertwined, and it was seriously huge. At least 60″ diameter at breast height.
Crazy rad powder-coated tree run down to the base. Drank a beer. Good Times.
You stay classy Alpine Meadows!
PS – Many first tracks down Sun Bowl too….favorite run in all of Tahoe if the conditions are right and its open.
