It’s 6am and sky is clear. Coffee is brewing, clif bars are packed next to a well used shovel, trusty probe and beacon with new batteries. Pass is hangin’ by the keys and boots are warming by the fire.
NOAA report says storm is on it’s way out early after dumping a cold, light 36 inches overnight. HT should be open by noon if I’m lucky.
Driveway is taking some time. Curse this damn old blower. And plows are late. Good thing I started early and got new studs this year.
Parking lot is empty. But I hold back, better to ski to the truck than walk later on.
Doors open and first bomb thunders through the valley as I shoulder my pack.
Yep, it’s a good day to be up early at AM.
