How come the Patrol at Alpine Meadows don't wear helmets?? Most avalanche deaths come from trauma, and this is one of the most avalanche prone mountains. I'm baffled by their machismo attitude, and have even heard them heckle fellow patrolers with helmets!! I think it's funny that they require each other to wear beacons, but not helmets and avalungs. Anyone else find this strange?? Anyway, just my two cents, I really do appreciate the Alpine Patrol, this is a great mountain because they keep sooo much terrain open for us.
