Last Friday was DAY 1 for skiing and riding at Alpine Meadows. Thanks to our snowmaking team the base on Kangaroo and Meadows served up some great corduroy for turns. Here’s some of the action from the slopes. Thanks to Bob, Trent, Rob and Mike for skiing for the camera. Turns like that make the mountain look GOOD!
It was cool to see Alpine’s Olympic contingent, Errol Kerr of the Jamaican Ski Team, showing up to peg a few turns. He’s showing good form for this early in the season and he’ll be around Alpine for the next few weeks getting some on-the-snow training.
Don’t let the sun fool you. Around 6:30 PM on opening day the clouds rolled in, the temps dropped and the snow started falling. Since then we’ve racked up 55 inches of new snow at Alpine Meadows. Our base is sitting at 48”, about 18” more than our neighbor to the north is reporting…
Alpine is getting ready to re-open this Friday with some of the best untouched snow in Tahoe! With Mother Nature’s recent snowstorms and cold temperatures that greatly enhance our snowmaking efforts, we ensure that by Friday, December 19 we will open with impeccable snow conditions. Get your work done, because by Friday it will be epic!
