Local skier cross racer, Errol Kerr, is coming to Alpine Meadows this winter to train for the 2010 Olympic winter games in Vancouver, Canada. Errol is siding with his family roots and shredding for the Jamaica Ski Team. Errol is 22 years old and lives in Truckee, CA. He competes in many ski disciplines, but is focusing his efforts on Skier Cross which will be a full medal sport for the first time next year.
Errol lost his father ten years ago, and now he’s competing for Jamaica and the memory of his dad. “I believe everyone has to appreciate where they came from,” Errol says. “I feel like one day in his own way, he’ll say to me, ‘I’m proud of you, son!’”
Errol finished 5th at the Winter X Games skier cross event. Competing in downhill and super giant slalom last year he came in 8th and 12th at FIS World Cup in Europe; 5th and two 6th on the Jeep King of the Mountain tour and a 6th and 8th at the North American (NORAM) Cup at Big Mountain, Montana.
It’s great to have Errol skiing, training and hanging out @skialpine this year. Errol’s humor, positive attitude and competitive spirit are a great addition to the Alpine family—plus he’s a ripping skier! Look for him on the mountain once the snow falls. He’s anxious to spend time with the kids in ski school, ripping the pow, and, of course, training like mad to win the gold!
